Even though I believed introducing Hashtags to Facebook was a good idea, there are a million good reasons to mistrust hashtags as marketing vehicles.
Anyway.
There are obviously even more reasons to mistrust ME as a hashtag consultant. One person who mistrusts me 24/7 is my colleague Kirill Falkow who shared this case study from NYC with me: Cole Haan and their brilliant #dontgohome concept.
The campaign is actually at least a year old. And come on: All of us know how these rather inexpensive case studies work (hashtags anyone? everybody tweet about it anyone?).
But!
It is one of the first times I have witnessed something rather stereotypical nerdy being presented very well in an case study video. And when I mean very well, I mean very well. No really, I think it’s great how they design a story around a campaign hashtag. If we now find a way how to make (Facebook) hashtags not go the QR code way > awesome.
Hello to my friend Kathrin Hoffmann who was BBH’s User Experience Director for this project.
